In the beginning there was the DOS prompt

To begin with there was a C:\> on my screen - that changed to a mouse cursor (a small white arrow on the screen).
The first one was from a graphical menu system called "windows" (who calls a visual frontend to display information a window?).

Then that cursor changed on something that was called "OS/2" (try and run that through a spellchecker...)
Until I finally in '98 I ended up with [root@localhost] $
That was when life started to make sense and the bits and bytes started to roll from my finger tips... or so I like to think :-)
